Tryouts
Teams for the following season are formed in July, so every roster can train together through the whole offseason.
How it works
An information session is held before tryouts each year. For 8U, a parent must attend the information session for their daughter to be eligible to try out.
Everyone registers at prbaseball.com, including returning players. There's a $15 tryout fee, which is applied toward the annual fee if your daughter is offered a spot.
Tryouts are held at Centennial 4D and begin at 6:00 PM. Arrive at least 20 minutes early to check in.
Sessions are scheduled by birth date. We recommend trying out with your own age group, since we can't always accommodate a schedule request.
Email prpistolstravel@gmail.com before the tryout window and we'll do our best to find an alternative date or time if at all possible.
Current and past Pistols coaches run tryouts, and are not permitted to evaluate their own daughter or their own players.
Eligibility
The Pistols are for girls 8 to 18. As a B-level program we don't openly recruit from other communities, and the majority of our players live in Park Ridge. Players from other communities can try out, but preference is given to Park Ridge players.
Age groups follow USA Softball guidelines, matching the school grade year with a September 1 cutoff. Sessions at tryouts are organized by birth date ranges, published with the dates each year.
New for 2026, the program added an 8U team, designed for the younger player showing a true passion for softball. More on the teams →
Team formation
Many Pistols teams stay together for years, but we do move players between teams when we believe it's in their best interest for development.
We do not make team decisions based on friendships, and we are not a "bring your own team" program.
