Teams
Nine teams and more than 110 players in the 2026 season. Age groups follow USA Softball guidelines, the same as the school grade year, with a September 1 cutoff.
For the younger player showing a true passion for softball who's willing to make it a priority from April 1 through mid-July.
Practice once a week in winter, twice a week in season, one to two games a week, and three tournaments. The focus is fundamentals and player development. First-year price is $850 with two uniforms, a helmet and a bag.
A parent must attend the information session for a daughter to be eligible to try out.
Where most Pistols careers start. Full offseason training, 40 to 50 games, and five to eight tournaments across the season.
Fuller tournament schedules and the start of real position specialization. First-year 12U teams still emphasize distributed playing time in pool play.
The bridge year, where the work aims squarely at making a high school roster. 14U is also the first age group that travels to national tournaments.
Offseason and summer competition for players already in a high school program, including national tournaments.
The oldest group, playing a national schedule alongside 14U and 16U.
Teams fielded in any given year depend on tryout turnout, and some age groups carry more than one team. Many Pistols teams stay together for years, though we will move players between teams when we believe it's in their best interest for development.
On the national stage
Our 14U, 16U and 18U teams travel to national tournaments, and Pistols teams have won local, regional and national events, including the Midwest NAFA Nationals in Minnesota, the 17 Softball World Series in Sandusky, Ohio, and the USSSA Space Coast Series in Florida. Dozens of alumni have gone on to play in college.
Recent results
Our season runs from August through the following July, and each team is named for the spring and summer it plays. A fall 2025 tournament therefore sits with that team's 2026 results.
Not bad for the program's first year at 8U.
Five Pistols teams travelled to the Quad Cities for the NAFA Midwest Nationals.
Players across our teams were also recognized by umpires for their effort, attitude and sportsmanship during tournament play.
18U, the last team out
Twenty-two tournament championships and more than 380 wins over the life of the team, more than any group that has come through the program.
They finished the way you would want to: gold bracket champions at Warren Wave, in the last tournament they ever played together as Pistols.
Age rules
Pistols follows the USA Softball age guidelines for new teams. It's the same as the grade year for school. The cutoff is September 1. Girls stay with their grade, the same way they will once they reach high school ball.
